Research Experience For Undergraduates

Undergraduate students from all institutions are encouraged to apply to Cornell's REU program. Each summer, students live and work at Cornell in a real-life research environment. Projects involve experimental high-energy and accelerator physics, and theoretical particle physics.

Society of Physics Students

The Cornell Society of Physics Students frequently participates in the educational programs of LEPP.

Interactive Science Highlights

Interactive videoconferences between Cornell University scientists and Corning Community College students.

Graduate Study

Students interested in working at LEPP may pursue a doctorate or master's degree through the Department of Physics at Cornell University. Because of the remarkable flexibility of Cornell's graduate program, interested students in other departments are also encouraged to explore opportunities at LEPP.

For K-12 Students

K-12 Activities

LEPP offers after-school programs and internships for K-12 students free of charge or at a marginal cost. Read on to learn more about what we have to offer.

For Educators

Teacher Resources

Read about some of LEPP's 2007 Education and Outreach programs in our E&O Highlights on-line newsletter.

There is a wealth of information on the web and beyond for teachers wishing to introduce elementary particle physics into the classroom. As our contribution to this growing repository of knowledge, LEPP staff and researchers have helped develop the following materials which we hope will help inspire educators and introduce students to this new and exciting science. Take a look at our teacher resources here.

If you are interested in bringing your students to Wilson Laboratory for a tour, please visit our Tour Information web page. You can also download the Lab's video, informational brochure, and access our vitural tour from this page.

Tour Information

The public outreach mission of the Laboratory for Elementary-Particle Physics is to increase the scientific literacy of the community by cultivating excitement and understanding in the realm of physical science. The outreach program bridges the scientific community to the general public through the distribution of educational materials, the sponsoring of various physics related events and by providing meaningful side-by-side interactions to students of all ages in an effort to foster life-long learning.
